Image Comics announced Friday that Shadecraft #1 from the creative team of writer Joe Henderson and artist Lee Garbett, the same team that produced the Eisner-nominated series Skyward, has sold out and will be going to an immediate second print. The new second printing will also come with a new variant cover drawn by Garbett and fan-favorite artist Jock.
“We are so crazy thrilled that people fell in love with Zadie Lu the same way we did!!” the creative duo said in a joint statement released by Image. “Her journey is so near and dear to our hearts, so thank you to everyone for checking it out! Get ready for more shadowplay, surprises, and teen angst to come!”
The new series was also preemptively picked up for TV production by streaming platform Netflix, which will have a pilot co-written by Henderson and Georgia Lee. Garbett will also serve as a producer of the upcoming series if it’s picked.
Shadecraft follows Zadie Lu, a teenage girl who has been afraid of her own shadow since she was a child. Things are starting to happening in her hometown and Zadie swear that shadows around her are alive trying to kill her. How does she fight that?
The second printing of Shadecraft #1 releases on April 28th, the same day that the Shadecraft #2 (with a variant cover by Tula Lotay, releases in local comic shops everywhere and digital platforms including Amazon, Comixology, Apple Books and Google Play.
