Marvel Comics revealed a Phoenix #2 variant cover today (July 15th). The cover is drawn by renowned cover artist Derrick Chew and it depicts Jean Grey controlling the cosmic fire of the Phoenix.
From the press release:
Now and forever, Jean Grey is PHOENIX! Her long-awaited solo adventures as a cosmic, galaxy-faring super hero begins later this week in PHOENIX #1. Part of the X-Men’s new From the Ashes era, writer Stephanie Phillips and Alessandro Miracolo’s PHOENIX is one of the most highly anticipated comic book launches of the summer. To hold fans over, here’s a look at a fiery variant cover for issue #2 by superstar artist Derrick Chew!
One woman, alone in deep space, who not only must do what no one else can: she yearns to. Reigniting suns, suppressing black holes, taking on the likes of Gorr the God Butcher and Thanos’ Black Order singlehandedly, and teaming up with fellow cosmic heroes like Nova, Corsair, and Captain Marvel—Jean is no longer the Earth-bound X-Man you knew! Glorious adventures await, but while the galaxies beckon Jean for salvation, will they also be reminded of her appetite for destruction?
