Yara Flor was one of the highlights of DC’s Future State event in the months of January and February. DC quickly announced a new series before Future State ended to release in the month of May. Wednesday, DC Comics released more info on the upcoming series, including the release dates of issues #2 and #3. They also release a first look at issue #1 along with all of the covers for the first three issues.

DC Comics’ Wonder Girl series picks up in current continuity, prior to the events of Future State. “The story picks up with a brief vignette of Yara saying goodbye to her aunt at the Boise airport,” says series writer and artist Joëlle Jones, “and then it’s straight on to Brazil! This trip opens up a huge world to her full of exciting characters. It’s incredibly exciting for her, but full of challenges both fun and dangerous.”

This is a lot for the teenager raised in Boise, Idaho. Little does she know, however, that her arrival in Brazil has been foretold and the events following her arrival will change the world of Wonder Woman forever as Hera chooses her to be her new champion.
