It’s Wednesday and that can only mean one thing. It’s New Comic Book Day!!! We were away last week, but we are back to present our top picks. This week, we have a few new titles starting. We also have another coming to an end. Several publishers – large and small – are represented this week. With with that being said, check out our comic picks for May 3, 2023 below. And as always visit and support a comic shop near you.
Our Top Picks
Kicking things off in our list for our comic picks for May 3, 2023, we have the third issue of Rogue State from Matteo Pizzolo & C. Granda over at Black Mask. this book is not for youngsters. However, it is a great story about what society might look like when the political system goes amuck. Granda’s art has been great. It’s a story about a possible violent future America. Believe us when we say it is a great read. If you’ve missed the first two issues, check them out.
Next up Boom Studios presents a new series starring everyone’s favorite vampire killer. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Lost Summer takes Buffy and the Scooby Gang to New Orleans. And you know how the EIC here feels about books taking place in his home town. He’s probably not afraid to admit he was a fan of the TV franchise as well. But you didn’t hear that here. Casey Gilly and Lauren Knight serve as the creative team for this title.
Then we have Radiant Black #24 from Kyle Higgins & Marcelo Costa at Image Comics. Nathan and Marshall have been sharing the power of the black radiant. As of late, however, things seem to be going haywire for the best friends and their shared powers. Can they get things together. We’re getting closer to the Catalyst War.
And Finally…
Finally, we have Immortal X-Men #11 from Kieron Gillen & Lucas Werneck at Marvel Comics. The Sins of Sinister saga is over. Thanks to Moira (or at least a clone of her), the world resets again. But thanks to the events of the Sins saga, the new Quiet Council knows of the past events. But can they use this knowledge to prevent history from repeating itself. And the focus lay with Ororo Munroe – Storm.
As always, check back here next week at the Comic Book Spot for more picks & news.
