It’s a new week and that can only mean one thing. It’s time to reveal our latest picks for this upcoming New Comic Book Day!!! There’s a total of 15 books on our list for this week. Some titles from last week’s list missed the mark for enjoyment. We’re looking for better results this week. This week, things are more even amongst the various publishers. No new titles appear this week, but one miniseries reaches its finales. And so, with with that being said, check out our comic picks for May 10, 2023 below and visit a comic shop near you.
Our Top Picks
Kicking things off in our list for our comic picks for May 10, 2023, we have the fourth issue of Monarch from Rodney Barnes and Alex Lins at Image Comics. Trayvon was raised human despite being from another planet. That alien race is now invading his adopted home thanks to him. But since being on Earth, Trayvon has learned to love. The beings that created him now see him as a risk. They’ve decided he needs to be eliminated.
Next up we have Disney Villains: Scar #2 from Chuck Brown and Trevor Fraley at Dynamite. In the first issue, Chuck Brown presented The Lion King villain in an entirely new light. He wasn’t the menacing genius we expected him to be. This issue, the players who sets Mufasa’s younger brother on his course with destiny lay their pieces in place. The events in this series take place between Simba’s birth and the scene in the movie where the young prince & Nala are chased in the elephant graveyard. This leaves a lot of space to tell a good story.
Next, we have the third issue of The Ambassadors from Mark Millar at Image Comics. So far, the miniseries presented new heroes from India, Mexico, and France to join our Korean leader on the global Ambassadors super-powered team. This issue take us to Brazil to present a new hero. And Jin-Sung continues his mission to steal his ex-wife’s technology. Will he succeed? Artist Oliver Coipel joins Millar to give us this next action-packed issue.
And Finally…
Finally, we get the latest series from Sean Murphy’s White Knight universe with Batman: White Knight Presents Generation Joker #1 from DC Comics. This miniseries bring Katana Collins back into the fold as writer, with Clayton McCormack joining her on the writing duties. Mirka Andolfo of Unnatural fame joins the team as artist. The new series focuses Jack Napier’s and Harley Quinn’s twins, Bryce and Jackie. Jack has one final chance to show his children his life before he became the Joker before he fades away. However, there’s something – or someone – standing in his way.
As always, check back here next week at the Comic Book Spot for more picks & news.
