Our Top Picks
Kicking things off for our comic picks for June 7, 2023, we have a new series. You’ve Been Cancelled #1 hits the stands on Wednesday. Written by Curt Pires with art by Kevin Castaniero at Mad Cave Studios, You’ve Been Cancelled takes a different very of cancel culture then amps it up. While cancel culture today can cause someone to lost there jobs, it’s not that way in the series. Here, getting cancelled can cost you your life. We’ll be introduced to Roland, the world’s #1 ranked Canceller
Jeremy Adams produced some of the best stories of Wally West during his run on The Flash. In The Flash #800, the prolific writer says his goodbyes in an issue focused strictly on Wally West in the various stories. The monumental issue ends with a story by new series writer Si Spurrier. He definitely has some big shoes to fill consider how great Adams’ run was for readers.
Next, Image Comics presents the sixth and final issue of Mark Millar’s The Ambassadors, with art by Matteo Scalera. If you read Nemesis: Reloaded, you know the the Ambassadors will appear in the huge crossover event beginning in July – Big Game. It’s probably safe to say that Choon-He Chung’s evil husband and his gang of powered beings will also make an appearance. But before that happens, a battle rages here between the two sides.
And Finally…
Finally, we have the first issue of Steelworks from Michael Dorn (yes, that one) and Sami Basri at DC Comics. John Henry Irons has been living the life as of late. His relationship with Lana Lang could not be better than it is now. Professionally, business at his company, Steelworks, could not have been better. All of this is about to change, however. A terrorist is company after John Henry. And he wants revenge.
