Top Comic Picks for April 3, 2024

Kicking things off in our list for our comic picks for April 3, 2024, we have Void Rivals #8 from Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici at Skybound/Image Comics. Whenever this title releases, it finds itself as the top pick. It is definitely my favorite comic book on shelves right now. The adventures of Darak and Solila have been great. And you can’t forget the world-building as Skybound expands the Energon Universe. Now, our odd couple find themselves in the crosshairs of Proximus.

Next up, we have Robotech: Rick Hunter #4 from Brandon Easton and Simone Ragazzoni at Titan Comics. As a longtime Robotech fan (long time as in the 80s cartoon), I was a little disappointed that there was a much focus on Rick as I had hoped. However, I cannot complain about the amount of action and the superb art from Simone Ragazzoni. I really wish this would have been more than four issues as I believe that could’ve quelled some of my concerns. But I’ll take Robotech where I can get it.

So, who would’ve thought that I would have Birds of Prey in my list of picks? Me neither. However, here we are with Birds of Prey #8, written by Kelly Thompson with art by Javier Pina and David Lopez. I have had many reasons to not want to pick up this title, primarily the inclusion of Harley Quinn. But I needed only one to pick it up – Barbara Gordon. When OG member Dinah reached out to OG member Babs in last issue. I knew I wanted to see where this arc was going as the Birds (minus Harley) team up with Vixen.

And Finally…

Finally, we have The Sensational She-Hulk #7 from Rainbow Rowell and Andres Genolet at Marvel Comics. My only quip about this title has been the switching of artists so soon in the run. Outside of that, there’s a reason She-Hulk was nominated for an Eisner in 2023. It is a really good journey that Rowell is bringing Jennifer on. This week is no different as Jen and her boo, Jack of Hearts, meet his ex. Will there be a cat fight? This is bound to be fun.

As always, check back here next week at The Comic Book Spot for more picks & news.
