Skybound to Celebrate the Anniversary of the Energon Universe in June

The comic book publisher is creating connecting covers to commemorate the first anniversary of the Energon Universe

Since June 2024, with the release of Void Rivals #1, the Energon Universe — built on the partnership between Skybound Entertainment and Hasbro — has been taking comics by storm with its great stories  that have re-introduced the worlds of G.I. Joe and Transformers to readers  young and old. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Energon Universe, Skybound and Image announced today (May 8th) the release of special variant covers to commemorate the event. They’ve tapped artist Jason Howard and Annalisa Leoni to put these covers together. A black and white version will also be available.

From the press release:

Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, announced special commemorative variant covers in June 2024 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Energon Universe, the record-breaking comics line that began with Void Rivals #1 from writer Robert Kirkman and artist Lorenzo De Felici.

Since then, the Energon Universe has grown to include TRANSFORMERS by writer Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb), artist Jorge Corona (Middlewest), and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon) and series featuring iconic G.I JOE characters, including Duke, a limited series from writer Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride), artist Tom Reilly (The Thing) and colorist Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33) and Cobra Commander from writer Joshua Williamson, artist Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and colorist Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song).

The special covers celebrating the anniversary of the Energon Universe will be available with four Energon titles releasing in the month of June:

  • Destro #1
  • Scarlett #1
  • TRANSFORMERS #9
  • Void Rivals #10
