Angel and Havok to Lead Team in New X-Factor Series

The new X-Factor series will have Mark Russell and Bob Quinn as its main creative team.

For most of its history in the Marvel Universe, there has always new a band of X-Men operating under the auspices of the federal government. That team was known as X-Factor. In the fallout of the Fall of X event as Marvel builds their From the Ashes push, the tradition continues as the publisher announced today (May 7th) a new X-Factor series. X-Factor will be written by Mark Russell with art coming from Bob Quinn. Acclaimed artist Greg Land will have cover duties for X-Factor #1.

In the more recent renditions of the team Havok, the brother of Cyclops has held the leadership role. This will continue in the new series. However, he will have a partner in long-time X-Men member Angel.

The new X-Factor series will add new members Pyro, Frenzy, and Feral. But it’s likely more will be added.

From the press release:

“The thing I’ve always loved about the X-Men is that they’re characters first, super heroes second. So being able to write characters like Havok and Angel and Frenzy in a post-Krakoa reality is an opportunity to write about what I really care about, which is how do we help each other survive the apathy of the world we live in?”

Mark Russell

“It’s so exciting to be back and drawing mutants in the X-Men universe again, and doubly exciting to work with Mark again. To my mind, Mark’s mix of humor and ability to shine a light on the peculiarities of modern society make him the perfect writer to tackle the relaunch of X-FACTOR. Drawing this team and every unexpected twist and turn of the story has been a blast so far, and I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on it.”
